Why is it important to learn about Sustainable Development?
Sustainable literate people have sufficient knowledge, skills, and understanding of the green economy and concerns to be able to analyse and make informed decisions about environmental and social issues. Increasing sustainable literacy is essential to ensuring that everyone, at every education and income level and in all sectors, is able to participate in developing a cleaner, more prosperous green economy and sustainable future. It is vital to enabling marginalised people and communities to participate in, and benefit from, the transition to a more resilient sustainable, healthy and just society, build sustainable communities, and respond to the climate crisis.

The story behind the Green Economy Academy...
"My inspiration to create an online Green Economy Academy came from my Green Talent days in 2010 , I had a vision to build human capital and to prepare a green workforce that is ready to meet the demands of a low carbon economy. Today I am honoured that I can share my sustainability knowledge that I obtained over the past 15 years with anyone that is interested to make a difference in this world. To promote equality, to leave no-one behind. We need more sustainability professionals and green businesses.
The world needs you to #buildbackbettergreener.
The Green Economy Academy is my labour of love. Sustainability knowledge is key to unlock new green industries, to decarbonise the South African economy, and to meet net zero carbon commitments. There is only 8 years left to peak emissions by 2030. The time to act is now. Put on your green boots and join us!
May the knowledge nourish your curious mind and help you to discover green solutions to address social, economic and environmental problems in South Africa."
